2017-2018 Dance Team

From Edge Camp in the summer to dance shows and shaking pom poms on the sidelines, the West Johnston dance team is a skilled group of girls, earning countless awards and recognition over the years.

On May 22, eager dancers met in Ms.Crabtree’s room for tryouts. Only a select ten girls made the cut and earned a spot on next years 2017-2018 dance team. Junior Emalee Chapman is a returning dance team member and will be on the team all 4 years of her high school career.

“I was so excited to hear I made the team again,” Chapman said. “I love being on dance team a lot.”

Eight of the ten members have been a part of the team in previous years and returned yet again.

“I decided to try out again because I wanted to do something I love senior year,” Chapman said. “I hope that we become closer as a team quicker than we did last year.”

Students stayed directly after school for tryouts. The girls had to display their knowledge in skills across the floor, band dances, and a combo. Their performance was judged by dance team alumni Zophia Jackowski and Abby Britt.

The team, as always, plans to perform in various events throughout the school year, showing their wildcat pride among the whole community.

“I’m excited to get to know the new girls, dance on the football field and just enjoy my senior year with dance team,” Chapman said.
