Live Your Dreams

All talent doesn’t come from within the family. Senior Sabrina Dew claims both of her parents show no signs of vocal talent. Many relatives didn’t notice her love for singing until she started singing in church.

“When I was about nine, church was the only place I didn’t have stage fright,” Dew said.

Dew had stage fright because she felt there were people constantly criticizing her. She knew that stage fright would be holding her back from expressing herself.

“I overcame my stage fright by fighting through it,” said Dew. “I couldn’t have done it without my supporters.”

Her mom is her number one supporter along with her teachers and friends.

“My inspiration to singing is God because he gave me the talent and opened up doors,” Dew said.

When one of Dew’s teachers first discovered her singing, he told her to join chorus.

“Chorus really helped me grow as a person,” said Dew. “The class has become a family that I get to perform with.”

Dew gives advice to anyone who’s too afraid to express or show their talent.

“Let your light shine and never let someone tell you that you can’t,” said Dew. “Make sure to always live your dreams.”
